Description

The complete 'Dragon Rider' (For lack of a better idea) outfit. Lots of work rushed over several weeks went into this...my original plan was to wear it for halloween, but I wound up just wearing it to King Richard's Faire, which was lots of fun. Got a few cool comments on the shoulderpiece and outfit as a whole. =)

Pieces:

Pauldron (Shoulder) - Consists of 9 scales attatched to fake leather. 2 belts were used for the straps that connect in the front, back, and on the side. This still needs a lot of work to keep it from fallin' apart and looking right.

Leather Bodice - Same fake leather material...me wonderful Mum made this for me. It looks awesome and is surprisingly comfortable...so long as I'm not too squishy 'round the middle. >.>

Bracers - The left arm is just more fake scale stuff. The right is more fake leather that I fixed up into a bracer then painted a dragon face on. It's up in NH, but I'll get a detail shot at some point later. I did a little zoom so you can sorta see better here.

Gauntlets - Cut up fake leather gloves and big spikey things made out of more of the same stuff (see the WIP).

Shinplates - Yep. Plates on me shins. Hurray!

I really need a pair of leather pants to make this outfit, but they're expensive. Those are just some old black work pants I have, and the boots I found for $30 at TJ max! Yay!
Oh, and the horns I bought there at King Richard's Faire. That was a fun day. :D

Overall cost - Probably between $2-300 somewhere, though a lot of the materials I got I still have quite a bit leftover...so I imagine it's closer to $150- in the costume itself. Most expensive parts were the fake black leather($25 a yard at 2 yards...yeesh. Only wound up using about 1 though) boots, gloves and belts (which I then mostly chopped up...ug). I couldn't find used black belts anywhere. :/
